How It’s Looking: Church St East
Track-lowering under Penrose’s Church St East rail overbridge is being done as part of the electrification preparation during Auckland’s Summer rail programme.
Here how it’s going:

thanks for the pics
Hi Jon and helpers
Many thanks for these photos.
I’m still curious of other works say the eastern line and the bridges in Manurewa.
there may be a few surprises we don’t know about
Does anyone know, how much are they lowering the rails?
Diego - I’m not 100% sure but I believe there needs to be 5m clearance above the tracks
there must be a few bridges around panmure that will need attention also
Patrick, My understanding is the eastern line will get the bridge works next year. It was the western lines turn last year.
The Eastern Line is getting attention at Purewa Tunnel this summer (track lowering and yet another attempt to fix drainage). It will be one of the last lines to be electrified so they have more time to do bridges there.
Thanks Matt L, appreciate the info
