Transport, Tickets Warriors Mt Smart Update

 

Here are details of how you can tickets to the free Warriors entertainment at Mt Smart so people can watch on TV screens the Grand Final – and the bus and train arrangements.

Mt Smart is hosting a free of charge, ticketed event to view the game, and two other important games on four large screens.

The curtain raiser between the Vodafone Junior Warriors and the North Queensland Cowboys, as well as the NSW Cup Grand Final between the Auckland Vulcans and the Canterbury Bulldogs will also be screened.

This free family event, with live entertainment throughout the day, including entertainment for children, is being arranged by Mt Smart and Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA).  Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development (ATEED) is a primary funder under the Major Events Fund on behalf of Auckland.

TRANSPORT

People going to Mt Smart for the free family event and watch the NRL Grand Final on the big screen this Sunday can travel by public transport to the stadium.

People are encouraged to plan their travel and check out transport options to the stadium.    There is no free travel on public transport to the stadium.

Bus:

Special event bus services depart from:

  • Auckland CBD – Temporary stop on Victoria Street West (directly opp. the Sky Tower, between Hobson St and Federal St).  Special return fare $5.00.
  • North Shore – Existing bus stops along Northern Busway.  Special return fare $10.00.
  • Manukau – Existing bus stop, Manukau City Centre (Leyton Way, Stop A), Botany – Existing bus stop, Botany Town Centre, Main Bus Stop A/Pakuranga – Existing front bus stop, Pakuranga Plaza. Special return fare $10.00.
  • Henderson – Railside Avenue, Main bus stop Henderson. Special return fare $10.00.

Train:

Extra train services will be operating.  Normal train fares apply.  Penrose is the game day station, a short five minute walk to the stadium.

Driving:

Limited parking is available at Mt Smart through Maurice Road entrance only, with a gold coin donation.  Otherwise drivers will need to park on surrounding streets, taking note that they have parked correctly and walk to the stadium.

Road Closure: O’Rorke Road will be closed between 8:30pm and 10:30pm.

MT SMART EVENT PROGRAMME

1:45pm   Gates open (entry via gates A, B and C)

2:00pm   NSW Cup Grand Final (Auckland Vulcans v Canterbury Bulldogs)

4:00pm   Toyota Cup Grand Final (Vodafone Junior Warriors v North Queensland Cowboys)

7:15pm   NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final (Vodafone Warriors v Manly Sea Eagles)

Mt Smart is a training venue for the Rugby World Cup and as the field is required for training from Monday morning it won’t be available for people attending the Vodafone Warriors event.  All other areas of the stadium will be available for seating.

 HOW TO GET FREE TICKETS

 Tickets are available fonline from Ticketek  at Mt Smart Stadium (2 Beasley Avenue, Penrose) and from the Aotea Centre information desk.

They are also available at Mad Butcher stores in the following locations :  Mad Butcher Manukau (Cnr Cavendish Drive and Gt Sth Road), Mad Butcher Mangere (268 Massey Road, Mangere East), Mad Butcher Glen Innes (173 Line Road, Glen Innes), Mad Butcher Papakura (230 Gt South Road, Takanini) and Mad Butcher Albany (Shop 3, 50 Greville Road, Albany).

    Now why can’t they arrange the buses and trains like this for every home game at Mt Smart, instead of the die hard fans just turning up every week all the otherfans would turn up as well, especially if they give you a free ride with your match ticket like at Eden Park
