Bus Changes Start August

The new CBD and Western Bays Bus changes including LINK and City Circuit will begin mid-August.
The aim of the changes according to Auckland Transport is will make buses quicker and easier to use and increase patronage in the area by about 10%.
They include:

  • A new high frequency bus that runs along Queen St and to Wynyard Quarter
  • Changing some of the LINK route to improve reliability
  • A new bus route similar to the LINK that will run every 15 minutes around suburbs surrounding the CBD. The Outer Loop service would connect suburbs like Parnell, Newmarket, Mt Eden, Pt Chevalier, Herne Bay, St Lukes and Wynyard Quarter.

Any changes to the detail of the plans as a result of the recent public consultation will be announced any day now.

Meanwhile Airbus Express is apparently going to increase its fares on Friday.
Already it’s $16 one way for an adult and $23 return.
Cheaper than an airport taxi I got the other day to the CBD which was more than my domestic fare.
But bring on airport rail and real PT competition and choice.
