Wellington’s Kapiti Coast residents are converging on Parliament today in a day of “national significance” against the RonS that will carve through the Wellington coastline.
Deputy Transport Minister Nathan Guy who stands in Kapiti’s Otaki Electorate has called the planned Expressway a “hugely positive development” for the area..
Placards will target the Minister as well - the protest group is calling Mr Joyce a “Bullydozer” and “No Choice Joyce.”
I hate this sort of pesonalisation of such big issues. Sadly this group seems to love schoolyard name-calling as it has held up such placards previously.
Debate the issues, not name call the individual who signed off the motorway. All it does is get your group dismissed quickly by those in power.
A petition has more than 4000 signatures.
Various groups protesting the closure of provincial rail lines are also hoping to have a presence at the midday protest.
Protestors will be met by Maori M.P. Tariana Turia and speakers include members of the Green Party, the Labour Party, Wellington’s Save the Basin Group and Greater Wellington Regional Council.

I think it has to be personalised, Joyce is single handedly damaging and bankrupting the nation. Easily the most dangerous parliamentarian since Muldoon. Sure he is the face of a deeply interested lobby, but he is supposedly our representative as is accountable- in theory.

Nobody voted for him? Plenty people voted for the National Party knowing full well he was one of their leading members.
Jon - I understand what you are saying, but heck, they are being ignored already, so what do they have to lose?
I guess while a few people know who he is, they don’t realise how dangerous he is.
I’ve made a submission to NZTA, also read in the news that there is a mass protest in Wellington regarding the construction of the basin reserve fly over and the Kapiti Expressway. I spent a huge part of my childhood in Kapiti and Joycie wants to ruin it forever! Bring on 2011 election lets make National pay for it!!!!!!!
