The waterfront tramway has started advertising for them.

PART-TIME TRAM DRIVERS AUCKLAND TRAMWAY
Auckland Tramway is situated right in the heart of the Auckland Waterfront and will be a key attraction for the thousands of visitors coming to our city during the Rugby World Cup and beyond.
We need to ready a team of enthusiastic, vibrant and professional Tram Drivers in time for their arrival!
Do you see yourself as an ambassador for Auckland? Do you possess excellent communication skills and have a flair for anecdotes and recalling facts?
Are you an all round entertainer who would relish the opportunity to introduce your city to a daily influx of new faces? Then this might just be the opportunity for you!
This is a rare chance to work in an exciting, diverse and personally rewarding - position promoting Auckland to national and international travellers, onboard a fleet of beautifully restored heritage Trams. Applicants need to be fit and active with an outgoing personality and excellent work ethic.

According to the Companies Office files, it has recently changed its name from the Auckland Waterfront Tramway Company.

It has 3 directors - Michael and Paolo Esposito and Anthony Romano - who all have South island (ChCh and Nelson) addresses. Esposito operates the ChCh tramway.

    Presumably there are a few ChCh Tram drivers who are currently looking for alternative employment in a less shaky part of the world….

    You have got to wonder if the public notification is just part of a fait accompli….

    @greenwelly - quite likely actually, they usually have to advertise these jobs even if they already have the person and since it’s clearly the same company as the one in ChCh it’ll quite likely be one or two of their current drivers who can’t work there at the moment.

    I don’t think it is realistic to expect staff to move from Christchurch to Auckland, just for a part-time job.

    Maybe not, but a lot of people have moved away from ChCh and that may include the tram drivers.
