Papatoetoe St George Work Starts

KiwiRail will be busy in coming months rebuilding two rail overbridges in Papatoetoe so they accommodate Auckland’s electric trains.

They’re at St George St and Bridge St.

A piling rig and a crane are in place at St George St and one lane of traffic is closed. Piling for the new bridge abutments on the southern end of the bridge has started and soon workers will change to the northern side.

Preliminary work for Bridge St is mainly retaining walls .
Here are photos of the construction work at St George St.

I wonder what the old Papatoetoe station would think as it watches from over the road from the bridge?

though it isn’t as bad as other stations on the auckland network. the papatoetoe station could do with a fresh repaint. anyways, nice job! ;)

Looks like that are moving the piling out to widen the corridor - that’s good news!
