TVNZ Meets Gov-General

The Governor-General, Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Susan Satyanand, today accepted an official TVNZ apology over Paul Henry’s recent on-air comments.

They met Sir John Anderson, Chairman of Television New Zealand Ltd, and Rick Ellis, TVNZ Chief Executive, at Government House in Auckland.

At that meeting, the Governor-General accepted the written apology tendered by Sir John and Mr Ellis for the comments made on TVNZ’s Breakfast programme.

In a statement,  the Governor-General said he now considers the matter closed and he will not be commenting further.

Breakfast host Paul Henry tendered his resignation at the weekend.
