I hear the first official train is going to be led by a steam engine, how good is that! I wonder is the buffer needs to be moved to the end of the rails to leave enough room?

  2. karl says:

The buffer is intended to eventually be moved when they re-jig the station for three-car trains in 2-3 years.

  3. Ian M says:

By then they may have extended the platform:p

  4. Aaron says:

I wonder which engine will be used? A Railway Enthusiasts Society Ww would be great as they actually worked the line but they don’t have mainline certification.

  5. Roger says:

I believe Bill Baker from KiwiRail is one of the drivers, I’m not sure what engines Bill is qualified on.

  6. William M says:

@Roger: I’m pretty sure he’s qualified on the Ww, Wa and Ja… at the very least. Fantastic character Bill is :D
