$98m Waikato Road Approved

NZTA has approved funding of projects related to the Waikato Expressway.
It’s the construction of two sections of Hamilton city’s Ring Road, which incorporates Wairere Drive.
The combined construction cost of both Ring Road sections, including property, is estimated at $98 million.
The funding will enable the construction of the new 5.4km Crosby Road to Cambridge Road section just east of the existing Tramway and Peachgrove roads and the upgrading of the existing Pukete Road to Resolution Drive section of Wairere Drive from two to four lanes.
The Crosby Road to Cambridge Road section of the Ring Road will provide a key link between Hamilton city’s northern suburbs and the Waikato Expressway.
NZTA says this will play a critical role in ensuring that the Waikato Expressway fulfils its intended function as a key route for freight and inter-regional through traffic.

And NZTA has awarded the contract to improve the safety of State Highway 10 at Bulls Gorge near Kerikeri in Northland to Transfield Services. The estimated cost of the project is $7m.

The Bulls Gorge improvements will realign a 1.8km-long section of SH10.

Does anyone know what public trasnport allowances are made for the ring road?

Exciting times and well deserving for the City of Hamilton, our 4th major centre and growing. In addition PT needs to be integrated as well.

    Looking forward to this project.
