The driver of the vehicle that travelled the wrong way along the North Western Motorway on Saturday night has died in Auckland hospital.
Police name him as Ewen Donaldson, aged 86, of Tuakau.
The Police Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the crash, and determine why his vehicle came to be driving the wrong way on the motorway, crashing into oncoming cars..
