NZ Bus agrees that bus drivers smoking inside their bus is unacceptable behaviour.
The company has apologised to Gerard, a commuter who was was sitting at a Customs St east stop waiting for the Link bus, and noticed a driver smoking inside a bus at the same stop.
Replying to his complaint, NZ Bus says this type of behaviour “is not acceptable and we apologise.”
It says the bus driver was identified from the details provided, was asked to explain his actions and following the outcome of that interview, “appropriate action” was taken.
Good on you Gerard for complaining.
It’s bad enough drivers smoking just outside a Link bus when they hop off to take a 5-minute or so break but sitting inside and smoking is definitely not on.
