Maxx Katie Upgrade

I haven’t been a big fan of Maxx’s new website for getting accurate bus info so let’s hope a new online system being launched helps.

A new bus arrivals function on the MAXX website will help customers find their nearest bus stop and then give them a list of bus arrival times for that stop.

From now, when you hit the site “A virtual presenter, Katie, ” pops up and  tells you to enter your bus stop number.

Mark Lambert, General Manager, Customer Services for the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA), said: “This new tool will allow customers to access real time as well as scheduled time information for their bus and make people aware of their nearest stop number so they can use the function with ease, time and time again.

“The online system will enable our customers to track the arrival time of their bus, meaning they can spend less time waiting and more time doing the things they want to be doing. It should also mean they don’t need a timetable as they can track the bus times online.

Maxx staff will be  Britomart, Symonds Street and Queen Street, until Friday to hand out wallet sized ‘My Bus Stop’ cards to bus patrons. The cards will help people make a note of their main bus stops, so when they go to MAXX they already have details of their stop number.

Let’s know how you find it.

Can’t hear her talk at work. Can she move a bit to the side so she doesn’t block links?

But this happened when I first tried to get a connection suggestion and then clicked “map”.

    IptisEngineCom error ’80040200′

Error :-32765: Function is Unavailable - Please contact Webmaster

    /iptis/journeyFunctions.asp, line 41

Seems they should concentrate on basics first. Not impressed.

Okay, map works now. Still shows old Avondale Train Station though…!

I agree with ingolfson’s first comments - they should concentrate on basics not eye candy…

Took me a while to get the real-time info on my mobile… Katie isn’t designed for mobile phones or iphones, in fact the maxx website becomes useless on these devices…

For anyone who wants to use the real-time info on the mobile - just bookmark this site: http://www.maxx.co.nz/_vpid.cfm?stopText=3360&maxResults=0&allServices=true - and replace the 3360 in the URL with your bus stop number.

@Stranded on the North Shore Thanks for the tip. I wish Maxx would get in a consultant about their site.

Train stations show on the map - as bus stops - and don’t work.

However for buses I’ve been using the link provided by Stranded on my mobile and have found it really really useful!

Amongst other things, I use it to see upcoming departures from the Lower Albert St bus stop (Onewa Rd services) as my train approaches Britomart, to see if I have time to get a hot chocolate, or need to run!!

Realtime seems to be working at a good number of stops that don’t have realtime displays too - I’ve found a few on my regular trips already, although not (yet) my home stop.

I needed to know bus stop numbers not given on the trip plan - I found that pretty difficult to unearth. eg. what no. is the stop opp. a certain street where I have to be at a certain time.
