The next stage of the extension work for the Kingsland railway station platforms is happening and will be finished by June 30.
This will mean the bigger platforms can be tested as a dress rehearsal for the RWC. This will happen on July 10 as there’s a Lions test at Eden Park, in which patrons will arrive by train.
Over the road from the station, the shifted houses have allowed for wider footpaths.
The corner of Sandringham and Walters Rd is now wider for pedestrians to converge on the Park.
Meanwhile workers on Eden Park’s new stand need a head for heights.

Very minor point: Its a Springboks test on July 10
@GC Not a minor point if you are Sth African!
Thanks for the nudge
Went for a run past here the other day and it looks like the footpaths will be very wide, more like a shopping district than a suburban street. Any word on a safe route across Sandringham Road? I can imagine the disruption and safety concerns when a train load of rugby fans tries to cross the road all at once.
I believe the traffic management plan involves closing Sandringham Rd to vehicles when there is a game on.
@James B There will be a crossing controlled by lights installed just north of Walters Rd - almost opp the railway station
they should have made a really need flyer over “walking bridge” and carried part of it on through the ground, and had a lift and stairwells, actually make something of it, so that car traffic can still function.
the idea of a train is assist people, causing a road block is so stupid IMO, we wont happy people that live around the train, not people who can’t get to their houses.
another 1/2 pie effort

The funniest part is that just up from where they are doing all this widening the footpaths get very skinny and overgrown, what a joke…
