Video: Steam Returns

South Island train enthusiasts have been feasting out on steam.

It’s 15 years since a steam locomotive chugged through some west coast parts of the island.

In this enthusiasts’ trip, locomotive Ab 663 went through the mountains from Christchurch to Greymouth and at one stage was joined by the Feilding and District Steam Rail Society’s engine Wab 794.

Here’s an enthusiast’s video shot a few days ago of  Wab 794 & Ab 663 departing Greymouth station for the trip over the Alps back to Christchurch.
