40 Minute Road Delays At Bombay Starts Tomorrow Night

Big Blue Crane working in Newmarket tonight, causing road closures

While work continues tonight involving the big blue crane around Newmarket’s Viaduct, it’s SHI between Bombay and Pokeno’s turn for disruption, starting tomorrow night.

Major line-marking and resurfacing work is taking place on both the north and southbound lanes over the next week between 8pm and 6am when traffic volumes are lighter.

NZTA’s Tommy Parker said the NZTA had deferred the work until after the busy Easter weekend, but that it was inevitable that there would be delays that could add up to 40 minutes on to a journey.

Detour routes will be in place via Tuakau, in Franklin.

Northbound traffic will be diverted from SH1 at Pokeno, Southbound travellers diverted from Bombay.

The southbound lanes of SH1 between the Bombay off ramp and State Highway 2 on ramp are scheduled to be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.  This includes the closure of the Bombay southbound on ramp, Beaver Road on and off ramps, Nikau Road on and off ramps and Razorback Road southbound off ramp.

The northbound lanes between the Pokeno off ramp and Razorback Road on ramp are scheduled to be closed on Monday next.  This includes the closure of Pokeno northbound on ramp, SH1– 2 northbound off ramp and SH2 – 1 northbound on ramp.
