Autumn Rail Spruce Up Continues

Besides the big projects, OnTrack workmen continued to spruce up the track around the Auckland rail network today.

This afternoon, they were busy between Kingsland and Morningside.

Auckland rail track maintenance this afternoon

Meanwhile reader Roger said my piece yesterday on track tamping reminded him of this shot he took showing why it’s so important. Thanks Roger, for sharing it.

And all over Auckland, road works continue this Easter.
These ones even shut off a section of Queen St today.

"Hmm, that doesn't look right. Are you sure this is where we were suppose to dig?"

Hey Boss Did we mean we cut open Queen St or was it Queen St Waiuku?

Wow great to see. And unlike Ann Tolley, the words ‘more good news, more good news’ are actually appropriate in this case!

@Damo Hahaha - at least track maintenance seems to be of a high “national standard”

@JonC LOL!!! indeed - they seem to really have their game on here…really encouraging for Auckland.

That first photo looks like they are building an access road, which is what is needed for electrification. I hope with the improvements they can speed up trains out west as currently they are really slow in places (the station spacing doesn’t help).
