NZTA Waterview Tunnel Expos Next Week: “We Want Feedback”

The NZTA is running seminars from next week for residents affected by the Waterview Connection project.

The “expos” will be:

  • Thursday, Te Atatu Community Centre, 3.30pm to 9pm
  • Saturday, Pasadena Intermediate in Pt Chevalier 10am to 5pm
  • Owairaka Primary School,  Saturday 13 March from 10am until 5pm.

Information on the project will be available and  seminars will cover a range of topics including noise, air quality, urban design, environmental and construction effects.

The project expo concerns the completion of SH20 from Sandringham to the Northwestern Motorway and the widening work on the Northwestern Motorway from St Lukes to Te Atatu.

The NZTA is applying to the Environmental Protection Agency  to use the new national consenting procedures, and anticipates the EPA notifying the project and calling for public submissions mid-year.

NZTA’s local chief ,Wayne McDonald, says residents in these areas will be able to get information on what is happening in their location and provide NZTA with feedback on some of the design proposals.  Mr McDonald said the expo was part of the NZTA’s commitment to consult with communities to enable them to have input into the projects.

“Their comments will be vital for NZTA to feed into final documentation for the process to obtain planning approvals. “
