Rail Track Work - One Week To Go: Photos

It’s weird seeing parts of the southern and western Auckland rail network with the tracks missing - and workers have one final week to lay the track formation and finish the work before the trains resume on Monday week.

Bridges around the area are also still getting work done for electrification with the tracks lowered.

Here are some photos as the work progresses:

Thanks for the photos - do you know if the Sandringham Rd overbridge is going to be replaced?

  2. Matt L says:

I think they are just lowering the tracks beneath the bridge. It is quicker and cheaper and that leaves it up to the council to wear the cost of replacing the bridge if it is needed. I think that this is what happened with the Sturges Rd Bridge and why the Waitakere City council is having to wear most of the cost.

@Christopher No it’s not being replaced.

I think the Sandringham Rd bridge was a more solidly built bridge anyway from the start.

Ontrack should be focusing their money on trackwork, any bridge replacements should come out of the much larger Auckland roading budget.
