Santa Comes Early To Those Who Drive

Christmas has come early for some residents of Napier and Gisborne.

I notice that work towards the realignment of the Matahorua Gorge between Napier and Gisborne commenced today.

That’s nine months earlier than originally scheduled  -  thanks to an additional $142.5 million in funding announced in February as part of the government’s “Jobs and Growth Plan.”

An elated Transport Minister Steven Joyce says the work will come as a relief to those who travel the section of State Highway 2.

I’m sure it will and good for them. Everyone deserves a nice Christmas gift.

But how do we persuade Santa that our electric rail funding present is not nine months ahead of schedule but way long overdue?

Or have we just been too naughty this year to deserve presents?
