WWF Loop Protest
The day after the Auckland mayoral election result, environmental group WWF will set up a “construction site” in the Market Square to call on the Mayor of Auckland to make good on his election promises to begin work on the inner city rail loop.
On Sunday there are initiatives around the world to call for politicians to get to work on climate change.
From 11 am - noon on October 10, WWF will set up a “construction site” at Viaduct Harbour beside O’Hagan’s bar and the WWF panda mascot will be in attendance in work attire, spade in hand to symbolize that work starts now.
WWF is inviting Aucklanders to join the party and ask the Mayor to get to work on sustainable transport, writing their messages in large speech bubbles. WWF will create a photo collage of the messages and send these to the Mayor to demand he get to work on his election promises to improve public transport and help fight climate change.

This is great. Unfortunately I won’t be attending as I’m not in Auckland . But Auckland needs to start on the Loop and should start, as WWF plan, NOW!
…Oh and fight Climate Change. How can I forget that. The Super City approaches. So Brown/Banks needs to start on these two projects NOW!
I wish they’d stop calling it a loop, no trains will ever loop through it.
Thought they were getting wrestlers in for a sec
