Rush To Buy Cars

Kiwis rushed to buy new cars just before the GST went up yesterday.

September new car registrations will top 6,250 sales.

The MTA says this will be the highest number of registrations in the last 22 months.

Although September numbers are traditionally up due to the large number of rental car sales, this figure is still a jump compared with September 2009 (5,593 registrations).

Official figures for the month will be released next week.
