Back To Normal

Final track work was being done around the Western Line today in preparation for a return to ‘normal’ timetable tomorrow morning, after a week of a temporary schedule.

Buses were still replacing trains today.

With Avondale’s new station opening tomorrow, fingers are crossed everything is ready.

The cut back of Waitakere trains to Swanson, and addition of 11 minutes to schedules all week turned out to be a waste of time. Trains were only delayed a couple of minutes each going through the area, compared to the usual 3-5 minutes sitting at either junction. Had they operated on normal schedules, they actually still would have had the best week of the year for timekeeping.

Geoff - I have to disagree there, even with the extra 11 minutes there were still days my train was late. There were also delays around Mt Albert and Mt Eden which didn’t help things.

The best week I have seen so far was the week after double tracking at Grafton opened but before the new timetable came in. That short week I had morning trains that were a two minutes early, on time or 1 min late.

My trip in this morning on the express was slow with us slowing to an almost stop at every station between New Lynn and Newmarket.
