Subscribe to RSSSth Island Rail Crossing Crash
There’s been a serious level crossing crash in the South island this afternoon - but no train was involved.
Emergency Services are attending the crash which occurred between a car and a truck, at the level railway crossing on State Highway One, approximately 1 km north of Maheno, about 15 kms south of Oamaru.
One man, initially trapped in the car, has since been taken by rescue helicopter to Dunedin in a serious condition.
Detours are in place until about 6pm
