Swanson, Son Of Kingsland On Its Own Two Feet

Good to see Swanson’s overbridge all finished and opened.

It looks so much a replica of Kingsland.

The only problem is you can only get to the far platform by using the bridge - not from the area overlooking the station on that side of the tracks. Pity. I’m sure there would be people who live over that side of Swanson who would welcome easier access to the station.

Like Kingsland, it has a lift.

It’s a nice looking addition to the area, alongside the old weatherboard Avondale station, which was lovingly moved to Swanson and is now a café. Always good to find a park ‘n’ride as Waitakere stations do so well.

It reminds me more of the Busway overbridges…

Similar to Sylvia Park too except these are red.

    Looks great

Looks a lot like Middlemore, without the hospital.

    lol @Andrew.

Good to see good common design themes at each station while not being identical. Will enhance the whole network when new trains arrive in a few years.

It’s good to see they’ve used something different for the bridge and barriers. It’s a lot better than the generic concrete bridge and steel hand-rails they have at all the other stations.
