Bus Passengers To Get Instant Discount Offers
Start checking the back of your bus tickets if you travel on Metrolink, LINK, GO WEST , North Star and Waka Pacific buses .
You’ll find discounts offered – as you do on some supermarket dockets.
The bus companies have entered into an agreement with Superdockets, who do the same on supermarket receipts.
Every customer is promised something to the value of at least $4 or the chance to win an overseas trip each time they take a bus.
“Enhancing the public transport experience for our customers is how we will make ourselves the way our communities choose to travel,” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager Operations, in announcing the move.

Sounds nice hopefully Ritchies do the same thing
As long as you don’t get fuel discounts for taking PT
hmmm, hows that going to work with intergrated ticketing? Great idea though.
Instead of promotion stunts why do bus companies not try something novel like attract more passengers through cheaper fares? Grow your customer base plain and simple.
That would enhance the public transport experience (and compensate for dirty tagged, rough riding buses stuck in traffic and meandering routes). More people would chose buses if it were as cheap or cheaper than a car. Because buses have so many disadvantages over the car something like value for money fares are a great way to attract patronage.
More customers surely equals more profits but for whatever reason we see time and again fare rises justified as if there is a limit on passenger numbers they can have.

Why would they? For them, the PT model is a nice cushioned compromise of subsidies and fare profit. Since we cannot know how profitable they are, we can’t comment on whether they should drop the prices…
Paper tickets are like last century. We lived on a school street, and our front yard was covered with bus paper tickets. Let’s move on and get rid of them, let’s go paperless. Integrated ELECTRONIC ticketing can’t come soon enough.
