Old Railcar Returns To Dunedin After 33 Years (Video)
Labour weekend is a big weekend for railway enthusiasts in the South Island.
The Dunedin Train Festival remembers the days when team locomotive trains and Vulcan railcars dominated the Otago Central Railway from Dunedin to Cromwell.
To get ready for the occasion, the Vulcan railcar RM56, carrying some of the old drivers on board, had a run through the Taieri Gorge, for the first time since 1976 when she made the final railcar trip up to Alexandra.
On Monday of Labour day, the Taieri Gorge Railway will run services between Middlemarch and Pukerangi including running the Vulcan.
