Greenlane Station Closed For 2 Weeks

Greenlane train station will be closed between April 16 and May 1 while the platform extension work is carried out.

Passengers who normally use this station will be encouraged to use Remuera or Ellerslie stations or one of the many bus services that operate from nearby.

For the duration of the closure, rail monthly passes will be accepted on the Metrolink and Waka Pacific buses that stop near the station.

Work has begun on extending Greenlane's platforms

More closures are coming for many of us.

The upcoming work will include:

  • Signalling on the Southern Line between Newmarket and Westfield
  • Putting in foundations and masts on the Western and Onehunga lines
  • Platform extension works at Remuera, Greenlane, Otahuhu and Papatoetoe stations.

For Easter Weekend the full rail network will be shut from Friday 22 April until midnight, Monday 25 April. In addition, the rail line between Penrose and Newmarket will shut down at 8pm, Thursday 21 April. Buses will replace trains between these stations. Buses will replace trains, except on Good Friday.

But before then - buses will replace trains on parts of the rail network for the next two weekends.

It will be interesting to see what they actually do at Greenlane. I suspect the original platform isn’t long enough and the track has to be moved.
Good to see the extensions are being completed anyway.

  2. Oscar says:

It would be good if they had an entrance from Derry St, Adam St, or both

@Patrick When I was at Greenlane last it looked as though they were clearing/grading land adjacent to the current corridor for a track re-alignment to facilitate the platform extension - spot on I’d say.

  5. DanC says:

I’d like to see the roundabout above extended to have stops right outside the station entrances. With integrated ticketing where you don’t get penalised for changing modes these stops would be well used.

well caught the train today after being told greenlane was open by the ticketer on board, turned out that it was not opened and i got charged an extra stage and got off at remuera. according to Veolia staff its open but to the passengers wanting to get off at greenlane but can’t then having to get off remuera it still closed :(

  7. Owen Thompson says:

Jasmine, send in an email to complain.

  8. Jasmine says:

I have but there must be other complaints just waiting to hear back however i caught it home yesterday afternoon but couldn’t get off this morning, i’m just really confused on how its working now.

  9. Matt says:

I was on a south-bound service last night that stopped at Greenlane. Don’t know about north-bound because the train I caught this morning was skipping Greenlane and Remuera.
