Man Struck by Wellington Train

Police confirm that a male in his early 50′s had been struck by a train and killed just north of the Kaiwharawhara Railway Station in Wellington.
Police are currently attending the scene of the incident and speaking with witnesses in an attempt to establish the exact circumstances and as to where the man was when struck.

The public are advised to expect some delays to train services in and out of Wellington for the next few hours. This has caused problems for Phoenix fans heading for a 5pm soccer kickoff against Newcastle.

Police say victim support volunteers have been called to assist the train passengers affected by the incident.

Re - Western Link Road. I travel daily to/from Wellington/Kapiti, I suggest a fly-over in Paraparaumu and another road from SH1 into Waikanae from Waikanae side of SH1. I used to live in UK and took 45 mins to cross a small city, the traffic in Kapiti is nothing in comparison and I can’t see the need to carve the place up - huge highways really do ruin the character of a place.
