aahhhh Unions, they wonder why the rest of us detest them
if the drivers and other staff dont get a reasonable pay and conditions rise theyll all head off overseas.
This only happens once a year at the most and only a few services are affected so I think its worth it.
its not Unions more that these workers are covered by a collective agreement …. a dying breed today
whether thats a good or bad thing is moot

Stopwork Disrupts Thursday's Trains - Featured - AKT…
Here at World Spinner we are debating the same thing……
Given the shocking service from Veolia lately (haven’t had an on-time train this year!) I doubt I’ll notice the disruption much.
AFAIK it was only the veolia traincrews that are part of the stopwork meeting. Part of a collective contract is that they can have organized stopwork meetings, so they are not doing anything that they are not legally entitled to do. It only affects the Veolia Staff as kiwirail crews are covered by a seperate kiwirail contract.
travis, the country would be far worse off economically without them. Whatever you’re paid, it’d be a lot less if we didn’t have unions.
Travis obviously is a right-winger. Unions and collective contracts are needed by workers in this country to protect them from employers.
Hmmm, I was at Britomart on Thursday trying to board the 1:55pm train to Papakura via Newmarket and get off at Greenlane, and the train was about 25 minutes late! Plus, between Parnell and Remuera it made alot of stops.
@Hamish - Actually we have had an on-time train this year, I took the train a week ago from Glen Eden and it was on time, same with all the trains departing Britomart.
well you should get on my train is always on time in never never land.
