A man died on the Southern Motorway Manukau this afternoon.
Police say the man was hit or in police language was in collision with a truck and trailer unit travelling northbound.
Police say their enquiries will be extensive and on going for sometime.
It’s not clear how the man ended up on the motorway.
They are continuing to interview people. Traffic was held up for some time.
Victim Support are assisting Police with ongoing care for witnesses to the incident.

Any further news? What was a pedestrian doing on the motorway?
@Chris S No There hasnt been a police update.The statement they sent me is very odd as it doesnt explain how the man ended up on the motorway- whether he walked on to it or jumped.
