Waikanae Derailment Now Cleared

 

UPDATE 9.16pm Derailment north of Waikanae has been cleared so the Capital Connection will run as normal tomorrow morning.

There’s been a freight train derailment north of Waikanae, which will disrupt services north of the capital.

The train reportedly kept upright but some of its contents spilled.
Tonight and tomorrow morning’s Capital Connection service is being replaced by buses. The 5:20pm servce to Paraparaumu tonight has increased capacity for those passengers wishing to use it as an alternative.
Tomorrow morning’s 7:40am service departing Paraparaumu will also have increased capacity.
The Capital Connection bus replacements depart from Platform 9 at Wellington Station.
