(Video) Mike Lee Opens Our Wharf

On a stunning sunny afternoon in Auckland, ARC Chair Mike Lee declared that Queens Wharf had now become “The People’s Wharf.”

A public open day was held to commemorate the ARC and Ports of Auckland opening of the gates at the downtown waterfront wharf, after nearly 100 years of the Auckland public not being able to enjoy the spectacular Auckland harbour views and activity from the wharfside.

ARC Chair Mike Lee declares Queens Wharf 'The People's Wharf"

He told the assembled official gathering that the wharf was a legacy project for the ARC, a part of the programme and strategy to redevelop the waterfront from the harbour bridge, through Westhaven to Achilles Point.

He called Queens Wharf the centrepiece of that, with its 2.75 hectares of prime open space, close to the CBD.
