The closures are between 8pm and 5am the next day.

Lol, I’ll avoid the guy in the helmet for sure!
Seems like a lot of works - but maybe there always have been that many short-term closures, and we just never knew.
I think NZTA is installing signs on the onramps that estimate travel trip time based on how congested the motorway network is, to give you an idea about how long it’ll take you to get where you’re going and possibly to help plan your trips.
Mmmh, if you are already on the on-ramp, it wouldn’t help much…
Does anyone know what is happening on Symonds Street from 21st April, big signs saying to avoid from 21st April as major roadworks?
