Track maintenance sounds less spectacular than preparing a new train station but it can be oddly fascinating.

And it’s as important to the running of Auckland rail services - and it’s also part of this Easter’s Auckland rail shutdown work by KiwiRail.

Tamping, ballasting and de-stressing is being done from Sarawia St up to the Parnell Tunnel.

And here is a video of some typically noisy work around the Sandringham Rd rail overbridge, just along from Kingsland station.
