Auckland Motorway Closures: Where To Avoid Driving

 

Driving around the other night (yes, I know in a car…come on, trains don’t run after about 9pm!!) I kept driving smack into road works somewhere.

So here’s a guide to what’s happening the next little while so at least you know where to avoid if you’re driving around Auckland.

Closures start at 8pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated.  Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to next Thursday.

NORTHERN MOTORWAY (SH1)

·         Southbound lanes between Oteha Valley Road off ramp and Greville Road on ramp 29 March

·         Southbound lanes between Upper Harbour Highway off ramp and Tristram Avenue on ramp 28 March

·         Northbound lanes between Northcote Road off ramp and Tristram Avenue on ramp 30 - 31 March

·         Northbound lanes between Esmonde Road off ramp and on ramp 28 March

·         Esmonde Road northbound on ramp (loop) 28 March

AUCKLAND HARBOUR BRIDGE

·         Shelly Beach Road off ramp and Auckland Harbour Bridge southbound lanes one and two 27 - 31 March (approx 7.30pm - 5.30am)

·         Curran Street on ramp and Auckland Harbour Bridge northbound lanes one and two 28 March (approx 10pm – 3am)

CENTRAL MOTORWAY JUNCTION

·         Southbound lanes between Fanshawe Street off ramp and Hobson Street on ramp 29 - 31 March (approx 11pm – 5am)

·         Fanshawe Street northbound on ramp 29 - 31 March (approx 10.30pm – 5am)

·         Fanshawe Street southbound off ramp 28 March (approx 9pm – 5am)

·         Symonds Street northbound off ramp 30 March

SOUTHERN MOTORWAY (SH1)

·         Gillies Avenue southbound off ramp 28 - 30 March (approx 10pm – 5am)

·         St Marks southbound on ramp 28 – 31 March

·         St Marks southbound on ramp from 9pm 1st April for 3 weeks, 24 hours a day

·         Market Road southbound off ramp 31 March

·         Southbound lanes between East Tamaki off ramp and on ramp 28 - 30 March

·         East Tamaki northbound off ramp 31 March

·         Northbound lanes between Manukau off ramp and Ti Irirangi Drive on ramp 29 – 31 March

·         Manukau southbound on ramp 29 – 30 March

·         Northbound lanes between Ramarama off ramp and SH22/Drury on ramp 28 – 30 March

NORTH WESTERN MOTORWAY (SH16)

·         Patiki westbound on ramp 30 March

·         Lincoln Road eastbound on ramp 29 March

UPPER HARBOUR HIGHWAY (SH18)

·         Access from Caribbean Drive to SH18 Upper Harbour Highway 31 March

SOUTH WESTERN MOTORWAY (SH20)

·         Southbound lanes between Hillsborough Road off ramp and Neilson Street on ramp 28 - 30 March

·         Northbound lanes between Neilson Street off ramp to Hillsborough Road on ramp 28 – 31 March

·         Neilson Street northbound on ramp 28 - 31 March

(will not occur with northbound Neilson Street to Hillsborough closure)

·         Neilson Street northbound off ramp 28 - 31 March

(will not occur with northbound Neilson Street to Hillsborough closure)

·         Neilson Street southbound on ramp 31 March

·         Mahunga Drive southbound off ramp 31 March

·         Puhinui Road southbound off ramp 28 – 29 March

LOCAL ROADS

·         Hobson Street (all lanes) between Cook Street and Pitt Street / Union Street 28 March

·         Right turn from Union Street to SH1 southbound on ramp 29 – 30 March

·         Right turn from Union Street to SH16 westbound on ramp 29 – 30 March

    You either need a correction function, or I need more patience before posting.

    @Max NZTA tells me: “The improvements are linked to the current upgrade of the traffic island at the intersection. Old line markings will be removed and replaced, and new wiring to control traffic signal phases installed. “

    I know, but how can you upgrade a traffic island? And which traffic island anyway?

    I guess we will have to see.
