Mt Albert by-election candidates mingled with a group of public transport campaigners on Mt Albert’s train platform this morning.The public transport campaign being launched this morning is part of mounting pressure on the government to indicate the future of some of Auckland’s key public transport projects.
Since the scrapping of the regional petrol tax idea, it’s been unclear how the money will be found to start or complete a number of key projects such as the Newmarket station.
The Campaign For Better Transport’s “Action Stations!” campaign is a postcard campaign to certain government ministers to remind them that we are waiting for their assurances about guaranteed funding for key planned upgrades and integrated ticketing.
